Innovation and creativity is a weapon used when all else fails in the quest to create wealth – this is a revealed truth.
Welcome to the concluding post of My Thoughts on the Economic Recession in Nigeria, it’s been an amazing moments for me personally, I have enjoyed every bits of the thoughts I have shared, I wish I could continue over and over again. I’ll sure continue to share my thoughts – that I’m certain about.
We have considered critically the principle I called the “FIELD AND FLOCK”, we also considered how the wealth creation expect used the power of negotiation to change from a field principle to a flock in a recession. This is certain! Every employer will never want to lose a good employee – they go the extra-mile to keep them. We cannot shy away from the truth that not all employer is ready to even pay their employees what they truly deserve – hence innovation is required
From the previous post, Jacob was able to pull a partnership deal through with his boss – making him a co-owner. That was not the end of the story for Jacob, without mincing words that was the beginning of his misery. His boss played his best trick – he still owned almost all the shares of the company. Here was what he did:
And Laban said, “Oh, that it were according to your word!” So he removed that day male goats that were speckled and spotted, all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had some white in it, and all the brown once among the lambs, and gave them into the hand of his sons. Then he put three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.
Jacob must be a frustrated man at this point – here is your boss playing a fast one on you! There are lots of employers and partners like that, they are selfish, they think about themselves alone! – Innovation found Jacob a way:
Now Jacob took for himself rods of green poplar and of the almond and chestnut trees, peeled white strips in them, and exposed the white which was in the rods. And the rods which he had peeled, he set before the flocks in the gutters, in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, so that they should conceive when they came to drink. So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted. Then Jacob separated the lambs, and made the flocks face toward the streaked and all the brown in the flock of Laban; but he put his own flocks by themselves and did not put them with Laban’s flock.
And it came to pass, whenever the stronger livestock conceived, that Jacob placed the rods before the eyes of the livestock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods. But when the flocks were feeble, he did not put them in; so the feebler were Laban’s and the stronger Jacob’s. Thus the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
This is what I call innovation and creativity – when you get to a cross juncture like this, this is the only weapon left for use. Jacob accessed a realm beyond the human mind to bring innovation that the whole world has never experienced into the concept of reproduction. From this concept we saw how imagination than cause a change in reproduction.
How on earth did Jacob access this realm of innovation? How did he ever know something like that was ever possible? It is almost impossible for a white couple to give birth to a black.
This was how Jacob accessed this realm of innovation:
“And it happened, at the time when the flocks conceived, that I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the rams which leaped upon the flocks were streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted. Then the Angel of God spoke to me in a dream, saying, ‘Jacob.’ And I said, ‘Here I am.’ And He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.'”
This brought me to my conclusion of my thoughts, creating wealth goes beyond the human understanding, far beyond the field and the flock principle – creating wealth is spiritual – it is God that gives power to create wealth, not hard work! Never your skill, frugality or prudence. We saw from the story that the inspiration, creativity, and innovation of Jacob was divine.
Finally, I must appreciate you for coming this far with me, I’m glad you did. Recession in Nigeria is a real, things are hard – buried inside the recession are great opportunities waiting to be taken. We just need to operate beyond this realm. I still have loads of thoughts to share on my diary – you shouldn’t miss any of them, so turn on the notification alert on your device to get notified. See you soon, I love, I care.
